The FIRST Music Producer Investments To Make

Here are the things that all music producers/creators should invest in when starting out.

First and foremost invest in the most up to date equipment to postpone the inevitable technological upgrades. Investing in a good laptop with the most current software/harddrive and having a 8-16GB of ram is a great starting point. Make sure you invest in good quality speakers. Make sure you have also invested time in room treatment. Having a good set-up in terms of equipment and space makes all the difference when creating music.

The next and most important investment would be to go out and get yourself a mentor. It is essential that the mentor be someone who inspires you, is credible, and who is preferably located near you. This way you have access to first hand knowledge of someone who has been in the game for a while. You are then able to watch their process and get your questions answered in person.

Another investment that I advise any music producer/creator to make is an investment in Self. Make sure you look into advertising, your social media presence, and self-help tools such as books that will help your image and accessibility to folks. Having talent can only take you so far but, investing in your image can have a huge impact on how personable and likeable you are to people. Self-help books such as "insert book-title #1" and "insert book-title #2" can help you develop the necessary communication skills to elevate you to operate on a business level.

Invest in study-time, make time to listen to and study songs that make the charts, do so in your studio area. Surround your space with only the tools to study and create music, rid your space/studio of any possible distractions. Invest time and dedicate yourself to your craft. All these investments will give music producers/creators a solid foundation upon which to start and expand a successful musical career.
